Uniformed Services Family Fun Day returns to Burnleys Towneley Park this June

Uniformed Services Family Fun Day returns to Burnleys Towneley Park this June
The much-loved Uniformed Services Family Fun Day is set to return to Burnley’s Towneley Park on Sunday 21st June, promising another full day of free family entertainment from 10 am until 4 pm.

Over the years, the event has grown into one of the most popular dates in Burnley’s community calendar, bringing together families, veterans, serving personnel and local organisations for a celebration of community spirit and shared appreciation of the uniformed services.

This year’s event builds on that success, offering a packed programme of attractions including a full-size replica Spitfire, a WW1 1917 SE5a, funfair rides, food stalls, a bouncy castle, military stands, military vehicles, and a wide range of community and charity stalls, with even more activities to be announced.

Pendle Hill Properties are once again proudly supporting the event, continuing their long-standing involvement by providing PR and social media support, as well as returning as print sponsors. They will be joined by Burnley Borough Council, who are also once again supporting the event.

On the day, the Pendle Hill Properties team will also be handing out hundreds of free Hershey’s Bars and toy parachutists to children under the age of 12, a feature that has become a firm favourite with families attending the event.

This popular attraction commemorates “The Candy Bomber”, Colonel Gail Seymour Halvorsen, the American pilot who became famous during the Berlin Airlift of 1948 for dropping more than 23 tons of sweets to German children. By tying handkerchiefs to chocolate bars and dropping them from his aircraft, Halvorsen created a powerful symbol of kindness and hope that continues to resonate generations later.

Andrew Turner, Managing Director of Pendle Hill Properties, said: “We are incredibly proud to sponsor the Uniformed Services Family Fun Day once again with marketing, banners, print and school invites.

“It is a fantastic event that brings people together and celebrates everything that makes this community so special. Being part of a day that puts smiles on so many faces, especially the children, is something we truly value.”

Healthier Heroes CEO Andrew Powell said, “We can’t wait for this year’s event. Every year we see it grow bigger and better, with more families attending and more organisations coming together to support the uniformed services and the wider community. Pendle Hill Properties have been great in supporting the event over the years, and we can’t thank them enough.

“Towneley Park provides the perfect setting, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for what promises to be a brilliant day.”

Lukman Patel, CEO of Burnley Borough Council, said: “Andrew Powell and the team at Healthier Heroes do a fantastic job in Burnley supporting our veterans, people who have served for their country. We can’t wait for another wonderful day at Towneley Park!”
